Telemedicine in Primary Healthcare: Evaluating Its Impact on Patient Outcomes and Accessibility
Main Article Content
Abstract
Telemedicine has emerged as a revolutionary approach to delivering healthcare services, particularly in primary care settings. By leveraging digital communication technologies, it bridges geographical, social, and economic barriers to healthcare access. This study examines the impact of telemedicine on patient outcomes and accessibility in primary healthcare across urban and rural populations. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, analyzing patient satisfaction, treatment adherence, health outcomes, and service accessibility. The results reveal significant improvements in chronic disease management, reduced hospital visits, and increased access to care for underserved communities. However, challenges such as digital literacy, infrastructure limitations, and data privacy concerns persist. The study concludes that telemedicine, when integrated strategically within existing healthcare frameworks, can transform primary healthcare delivery, making it more equitable, efficient, and patient-centered.
